General Tattoo Aftercare
Please keep in mind your new tattoo is an open wound and should be treated carefully. It is critical to keep dirt, debris, and bacteria out to prevent any infections!
I use medical-grade, breathable, waterproof tattoo covering.
Keep the bandage on for anywhere from 4-5 days and no longer than 5 days. Some plasma fluid buildup is normal especially with heavy blackwork.
To remove tattoo bandage, find an edge of the bandage and pull it back over itself in the direction of hair growth. I recommend removing it under warm running water.
Gently wash the tattoo with unscented, antibacterial soap (I recommend Dial!).
Allow the tattoo to air dry or pat dry with a clean towel.
Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor (or any tattoo aftercare moisturize cream) on your tattoo.
Clean and moisturize at least twice a day until your tattoo is fully healed.
It takes about 2-3 weeks for your tattoo to be fully healed. Until the tattoo fully heals, avoid sun exposure, swimming, taking baths (showers are fine!), and do not scratch!
If the adhesive starts to become itchy and/or turns red around the edges, you are probably allergic! Please immediately remove the bandage and clean and moisturize.
Please apply sunscreen on your tattoo if going out into the sun after it is fully healed but not during the healing process!
